Holiday Ham
If you have never made a ham before, this is the right place to be. If you are cooking for a smaller crowd this year, having leftovers is a given. Left over ham freezes beautifully. It can be used for all kinds of dishes that I will show in future episodes...
How to Make a Ham
· City ham spiral cut bone in from the grocery store (they come fully cooked)
· 1/2 cup brown sugar
· 2 Tablespoons Dijon mustard
· 1 tsp ground clove
· Pineapple juice from a small can sliced pineapple
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Remove ham from packaging.
3. Wash off any remaining sugar and brine from the ham and place face down in an oven safe dish.
4. In a small bowl combine the next 3 ingredients and mix with pineapple juice until you form a paste.
5. Brush or spoon on over the ham. Loosely cover with aluminum foil and bake for about an hour.
6. Gently turn the ham on its side and uncover. Bake until the ham reaches 145 degrees.
7. Typically, it takes about 8 to 10 minutes per pound. Slice and serve. Save the bone for additional soups and stews! Don't throw that thing away!
