To Beef or Not to BEEF

You know those new meat substitues on the marked that are plant based but have the same textures as regular beef? They are really interesting. Check out the video to find out what I think about them as a product, strictly nutritionally speaking of course. Super fast chili recipe is also a great bonus. You need this for a week night

 
 

Chili Recipe

 

·      1 pound 93% lean ground beef or imitation ground plant-based product

·      1 packet chili seasoning

·      1 can diced tomatoes

·      ½ can of water

·      1 can beans (pinto, kidney or black beans) rinsed slightly

·      1 tablespoon Worcester sauce

·      Salt and pepper to taste

·      1 bunch scallions

·      Shredded cheddar cheese or vegan cheddar cheese

·      Tortilla chips

 

 

1.     In a pot over medium high heat brown ground beef or meat substitute.  

2.     Scraping the bottom if necessary and add water to prevent sticking

3.     Add tomatoes, beans and seasoning packet. 

4.     Add Worchester sauce, salt and pepper to taste

5.     Continue to cook for 5 minutes.

6.     Serve with sliced scallions, cheddar cheese and tortilla chips or as desired.
